Street View World Tour: a round-the-world adventure via imagery found on Google Maps.
We enjoy the restriction of only using what we find available on Street View, and the freedom to adjust the view with the 3D capture of the image. It's the next best thing to drawing from life.
In the pandemic spring of 2020, we missed the comradery of group sketch outings, and the excitement of exploring new places.
Lying awake one night, Eleanor conceived of the idea of combining a Zoom meeting with Google Street View. She invited friends from her studio to meet up online and draw places together. That first iteration was called Street View Jam. This meetup occurred off and on through the pandemic era, and was a light in a dark time.
Spring 2022: Eleanor tapped her friend/sketching colleague Jenny Adam to help restart the Street View drawing sessions, with a new and improved format: a regular monthly schedule, a featured demo artist, and a unifying theme.
Gage Academy agreed to sponsor the drawing sessions, keeping them free for all.
